The Graduate Cluster "Industrial Biotechnology" is a joined initiative of three CLIB2021 member universities Universität Bielefeld Technische Universität Dortmund and Universität Düsseldorf. In the frame of the programme, which is co-financed by the Ministry of Innovation of North Rhine-Westphalia, overall 84 PhD positions are offered to excellent candidates in the field of Industrial Biotechnology. The Graduate cluster is embedded into NRW-Industriecluster Industrielle Biotechnologie CLIB2021. Thematically, this graduate school is based on four technology platforms:
- Polyomics - under the scientific supervision of Prof. Alfred Pühler, Universität Bielelfeld
- Expression - under the scientific supervision of Prof. Karl-Erich Jaeger, Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf
- Biocatalysis - under the scientific supervision of Prof. Andreas Schmid, and Prof. Jörg Pietruszka, Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf
- Downstream Processing - under the scientific supervision of Prof. Gerhard Schembecker, Technische Universität Dortmund
An integral part of the graduate school and its competitive advantage is the industrial orientation and the close relationship with member companies in CLIB2021. If your written application is successful, you will be invited to an application workshop at Bielefeld where you will present your CV and your previous scientific work in a short presentation followed by a public discussion. After the workshop a personal interview will be conducted by the faculty of the Graduate cluster Bielefeld with every candidate. All candidates will be informed of their results shortly after the workshop. New application periods are announced on this website regularly for the semesters starting 1 April and 1 October every year.
