Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides SC MmymySC is the etiological agent of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP), a highly contagious respiratory disease in cattle and buffalo. CBPP is widespread in central Africa where the disease is of great concern in endemic regions. Since 1980, there have been outbreaks also in Southern Europe. CBPP is, from a global point of view, one of the most serious diseases in animals. It is the only bacterial disease included in the A-list of communicable animal diseases of Office International des Epizooties (OIE), the World organization for animal health. The genome of MmymySC is characterized by a single circular chromosome of 1,211,703 bp with the lowest G+C content (24 mole%) and the highest density of insertion sequences (13% of the genome size) of all sequenced bacterial genomes. This project was initiated by the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (J. Westberg). For further details about the genome of MmymySC see the publication in Genome Research or browse the genome with the GenDB 2.0 web interface. System requirements for GenDB 2.0: - A HTML 4.x compatible web browser.
- A screen resolution of at least 800x600 (1280x1024 recommended).
- Please enable Javascript, Cookies, and allow Popup-Windows for this site.
- The system has been tested with Netscape >=7, Mozilla >=1.1 (recommended browser), and Konqueror.
