Obtaining GenDB

Availability

There are two modes of analyzing your data with GenDB:

You can either use our installation or create your own local installation of GenDB.

Using the Bielefeld Installation over the web

We provide a web interface to the latest production version of GenDB at Bielefeld University. In the framework of a collaboration (or common project) you can use this platform and the respective compute infrastructure for analyzing your data.

We maintain the software, the tools, the sequence databases and run nightly backups of all data.

Please see the project setup page for details.

Installing your own copy

You can download a UNIX tar-ball for installation of GenDB 2.2 from our ftp server. Some basic installation instructions are available in the GenDB Wiki.

The installation requires some UNIX and bioinformatics skills and a reasonable amount of hard and software, so please make sure to read the requirements for installing GenDB.

We are planning to make future versions of GenDB available, but are seriously limited by the available manpower.

Please follow the corresponding links to GenDB Releases, License and Project Setup.
