title

Proteomics Applications of Orbitrap MS Technology

abstract Identification of proteins in highly complex mixtures has been in the centre of mass spectrometry-based proteomics since the very beginning. Over the recent years, investigating quantitative changes and dynamics of proteome have become an indispensable integral part of practically all high-profile proteomics studies, relying heavily on high resolution/accurate mass instrumentation to complete these tasks. Orbitrap mass analyzer represents a powerful and versatile high resolution/accurate mass system which, at the same time, demonstrates an exceptional robustness and ease of use.
This overview presentation will provide a brief introduction to the Orbitrap design and operation, reiterate the key advantages of very high resolution and mass accuracy, and focus on multitude of qualitative and quantitative proteomics applications which benefited considerably from this most modern mass spectrometry technology.
