Metagenomics training course 2015

This course, hosted by the German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure (de.NBI), will broach the issues of targeted (16S rRNA operon gene amplicons) and untargeted (whole-genome shotgun; WGS) metagenome analysis based on high throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. Part of the course are different techniques and tools for quality measurement, filtering, and sequence correction. The focus is on taxonomic and functional analysis with the aid of different bioinformatics tools.

The participants learn about the basics of metagenome analysis and gain understanding of the possibilities and limitations of metagenome sequencing and analysis. The course covers lectures and hands-on sessions by experts in the fields and is aimed at PhD students, postdoctoral fellows or other scientists with a background in metagenome and molecular biology.
