(Information in German) The Senior Research Group „Genome Research of Industrial Microorganisms“ is headed by Prof. Dr. Alfred Puehler. A. Puehler held the Chair of Genetics at Bielefeld University since December 1979. At the end of September 2008, he changed position and became Senior Research Professor at the Center for Biotechnology (CeBiTec) at Bielefeld University.
A. Puehler was involved in the setup of the CeBiTec. As one of the founding members he initiated the development of the Institute for Genome Research and Systems Biology. In addition, he took part in the establishment of the Technology Platform Genomics which is composed of all the „omics“ technologies, namely genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics. From 2004 until 2010, A. Pühler was elected as chairman of the Executive Board of the CeBiTec. In In the meantime, he was appointed as a honorary member of the Executive Board of the CeBiTec for life.
Due to his Senior Research Professorship at the CeBiTec, A. Puehler has now the possibility to continue his research work at Bielefeld University. The Genome Research of Industrial Microorganisms is mainly fundend by projects of the program „Application-oriented Research on Non-Pathogenic Microorganisms for Health, Nutrition and Resource-efficient Industrial Production"“ issued by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It is also significantly supported by the Cluster for Industrial Biotechnology CLIB2021. Aside from bilateral industrial projects the Technology Platform „PolyOmics“ and the „Graduate Cluster Industrial Biotechnology“ have been initiated. |
