title | | Non-conventional yeasts for bioethanol and beyond |
| | Non-conventional yeasts (i.e. almost all yeast species except Saccharomyces cerevisiae) have been characterised only to limited extent. We are investigating the three non-conventional yeast species, Scheffersomyces stipitis, Dekkera bruxellensis and Hansenula anomala for a biofuel-related refinery approach. These organisms can be used for new technological solutions and as model organisms to understand specific metabolic pathways in eukaryotes and microbial interactions in industrial environments.
