Center for Biotechnology (CeBiTec) of Bielefeld University raises 1.4 million euros research grant

Federal Ministry supports the Technology Platform Bioinformatics

The Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) supports the Center for Biotechnology (CeBiTec) of Bielefeld University with 1.4 million euros during the next three years . The money will be used for the extension of the CeBiTec's compute infrastructure as well as for increasing the team by two additional postdoctoral researchers. The CeBiTec's expertise in genome research and bioinformatics forms the basis of the new research project. According to Prof. A. Pühler, head of the Senior Research Group "Genome Research of Industrial Microorganisms", and Dr. A. Goesmann, head of the CeBiTec's Bioinformatics Resource Facility,  "The financial support ensures that the CeBiTec is able to strengthen its international standing in the field of genome research. Moreover, the upgrading of the compute power will accelerate the processing of the steadily increasing amount of data arising from genome projects."
