Microbiome Research
This research area focuses on microbiomes in the ecological, medical and biotechnological contexts. On the basis of synthetic biology and machine learning, microbiomes are studied and improved by rational intervention. It tests hypotheses emerging from large-scale microbiome analyses to understand and enhance complex networks of life and to exploit the gained knowledge to construct synthetic microbial consortia for sustainable bioproduction schemes.
